Martin Sukkel
Martin was the COO of Regal Springs Tilapia from 2004 to 2013.Regal Springs is now the largest tilapia farming company in the world, with production units in Indonesia, Honduras and Mexico and sales offices in the USA and Europe.During his tenure, Martin oversaw daily operations of the group and was ultimately responsible for production planning, product allocation, and direct contact with key accounts.Some of Martin’s achievements during his career at Regal Springs included the following:
- Initiated and guided production increase from 20,000 metric tons (mt) in 2003 to 70,000 mt in 2012 and oversaw the associated expansion of production facilities and factories worldwide.
- Realized a revenue increase from $35 million to $100 million.
- Improved production, processing, and logistic efficiencies as well as profitability globally.
- Started and initially ran the European sales organization, which had grown to $12 million in revenues in 2012.
- Co-started greenfield operations in Mexico, which showed an operational profit in its second year of operations.
- Initiated and pushed through the transition from fragmented financial administration systems to a modern ERP system in all operating companies.
Martin earned a Master of Science in Aquaculture and Fisheries from Wageningen Agricultural University and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Breeding and Statistics from Leeuwarden Agricultural College.
