Shook, Hardy & Bacon - Aquaculture Product Liability Expert Witness

Independent expert opinion supporting complex product liability litigation in commercial shrimp farming.

Project Team:

Shook, Hardy & Bacon - Aquaculture Product Liability Expert Witness

Crustaceans

AquaSol was retained by Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP, acting on behalf of DuPont de Nemours, Inc., to provide aquaculture expert opinion and litigation support in two shrimp farming-related cases: Aquamar v. DuPont and DIBSA v. DuPont.

The claims alleged that a fungicide manufactured by DuPont caused shrimp mortalities at commercial shrimp farming operations in Ecuador. AquaSol’s role focused on independent technical assessment of shrimp farming practices, disease dynamics, environmental conditions, and alternative causation factors relevant to shrimp health and survival. AquaSol translated complex biological and production variables into clear, defensible expert opinions suitable for legal proceedings.

Project Outcome

  • Delivered independent expert opinions in high-value shrimp farming product liability cases
  • Assessed alleged causation of shrimp mortalities in commercial production systems
  • Provided scientifically grounded analysis of disease, environmental, and operational factors
  • Supported legal counsel with clear, defensible aquaculture expertise

“Tom’s extensive knowledge of shrimp farming and shrimp farming procedures was critical in defending these two cases. Tom’s expertise was essential. Further, Tom’s attention to detail in reviewing a vast group of documents was outstanding and resulted in uncovering previously undiscovered, important information. I can recommend Tom without hesitation. ”
